Frequently Asked Questions
Physiognomy is not a well-known subject in South Africa. Therefore, I have created information in a Question / Answer format, based on questions I have received over the years. You are very welcome to contact me on 082 716 3626 or info@faceprofilesa.co.za if you need more information.
How does it work?
The lines, structures and shapes on a face represent aspects of the personality. Our faces change according to the changes which manifest in our personality. As we learn and grow on the inside, our faces will show the results on the outside. Changes on the inside (aspects of the personality) will affect the appearance on the outside (facial features). Changes on the outside (physical change to appearance e.g. plastic surgery, scars & make-up) will affect the inside (personality). Every face tells a story.
Your face is divided into different sections. Each section represents aspects of your personality and shows some of your preferences. Draw an imaginary vertical line from the center of the forehead to the center of the chin.

The right side of the face represents the external or social side of your life. This is usually the side that is shown to your colleagues and acquaintances.
The left side of the face represents the internal or personal side of your life. This is usually the ‘side of you’ that is only shown to your family and close friends.
The face is also divided into three horizontal areas called life priority areas. It reveals life priorities, which is very meaningful if you are looking for long-term relationships. Remember, it is good to share similar Priority Area proportions; otherwise your relationship could suffer from this trait’s potential challenge – a lack of understanding for other life priorities.
Priority area 1 is measured from the hairline to the eyebrows. If this area is dominant, you are driven by thoughts, ideas and theories. Feelings may play a lesser role.
Priority area 2 is measured from the eyebrows to the base of the nose. If this area is dominant, you are driven by feelings and ambition. You are a go-getter who want to leave your footprints behind.
Priority area 3 is measured from the base of the nose to the chin bottom. If this area is dominant, you are driven by people and are well-grounded. (Please note: This is just a very basic explanation of some aspects which are represented by these sections.)
How accurate is Physiognomy?
99.99%. As we grow and aspects of the personality change, the changes will reflect over time on the face. It takes at least a few months to see the physical changes on the face.
What about genetics?
Of course it plays a part. We inherit our parents’ genes, but develop our own personalities based on aspects that we learn from our parents. These personality traits will shape the structure and shapes on our faces.
What about race and colour (stereotyping)?
We often believe that people from the same race and/or culture all look the same. This is not true. When you really start looking at individuals, you will soon see that it is impossible to put people in racial categories. It is about the shapes, angles and proportions within a particular face that counts, not about colour of hair, skin or eyes. Face Profiling should be used to learn, not to judge.
What about make-up or shaping of the eyebrows?
Any changes made on the external (face), will have an influence on the internal (personality). When you change the shape of your eyebrows, it will have an effect on your thinking patterns and how you focus on details. Lots of mascara will cause you to be a bit more tolerant. Ask anyone who has ever used make-up; they will tell you that they feel different with and without make-up.
What about Botox and Plastic surgery?
It is sad that we live in a world where appearances play such a major role. We look at movie stars, models and other ‘beautiful’ people and wish we had their ‘looks’. Think again! A second opinion from a physiognomist will help you decide if you really need those changes.
All features on your face have a direct link with your personality. It was formed over time and sudden changes on the face will have sudden changes on your personality. If you do not feel comfortable with these changes, and is not willing to change according to the procedures (cosmetic) you have chosen, your facial features will change back to its original form. This is the reason why people so often return to their plastic surgeon once they have started with any procedures.
